Another famous restaurant is now closing in Texas after serving its community for 54 years, with owners confirming the news on social media.
Jim’s Restaurants, a Texas breakfast and burger chain, announced its latest closure online.
The closing location is in San Antonio on San Pedro Avenue and West Hildebrand.
The company said it would close a 54 year old location on Facebook, according to local ABC affiliate KSAT.
“Due to the challenges posed by our current economy and rising operational costs at this location, we find ourselves at a critical juncture,” the restaurant said.
“After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations of Jim’s Restaurant at San Pedro and Hildebrand.
This decision is not taken lightly, but it is necessary for us to enhance our company’s ability to serve our patrons and the communities who’ve made us their own throughout the city.”
The last day to get burgers or pie from the location is June 25.
It’s not the first location that Jim’s has shut in recent months.
KSAT reported that another Jim’s in San Antonio, located on Broadway, shut earlier in the year.
Now there are just 14 spots left, per The-Sun.
Luckily for locals, most are in San Antonio.
The company runs 11 locations in the city, with 3 open in Austin.
A Facebook post about the closure received over a dozen “sad face” reactions.
Some were sorry to see the spot go.
“Thank you for all the years you served the community,” one commented.
Others were less torn up about the departure.
“Jim’s is mostly for older folks and their clientele is dying off,” another said of the half-century-old chain.
Older chains sometimes struggle to turn a profit as tastes and consumer behavior change through the years.
Cracker Barrel has been undergoing upgrades to modernize its old-timey restaurant atmosphere.
The company’s CEO has admitted the company has “lost some of its shine.”
Now, it’s rolling out decor changes.
The transformation is set to cost $700 million.
Several Cracker Barrel locations have closed.

“We are at the helm of a pivotal moment that will allow us to explore boundless advancement, expansion, and innovation to keep delivering ‘That Fridays Feeling’ that our fans know and love.”

Eight other locations were sold to former CEO Ray Blanchette, a longtime stakeholder who will acquire the previously corporate-owned restaurants.
The sale comes as major changes have been made to the brand’s leadership, including the news of Weldon Spangler being made CEO.
“As we continue along our path of transformation to revitalize the Fridays brand and implement a long-term growth strategy, we see a bright future for TGI Fridays,” said Spangler in a statement.
