A famous restaurant is now closing in Ohio after serving its community for more than five decades and becoming a staple.
Donte’s Restaurant and Pizza Shop, located just 20 minutes south of Cleveland, has announced its closure after 52 years of operation.
The restaurant first opened in 1972 when Tony and Betty Casedonte purchased it, and it has remained a beloved family-owned business ever since.
Over the years, Donte’s has become a staple in the community.
The Casedonte family’s four children and five grandchildren continue their parents’ legacy by keeping the restaurant running.
The news of the closure was shared on Facebook, where the family expressed their gratitude to the community.
“After 52 years in business, we have made the bittersweet decision to close our doors,” the post read.
“It has been a pleasure serving this community for 50+ years, and we were honored to continue our parents’ legacy.
We have felt the love from everyone regarding this next chapter and hope to see all of you in the coming weeks as we say farewell to Donte’s.”
In 2022, the Brook Park City Council honored the restaurant as it celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The city council presented the Casedonte family and Donte’s staff with a resolution to congratulate the company for its impact on the community.
“Donte’s Restaurant and Pizza Shop has been a full-service, family-owned and operated restaurant since 1972, and Tony and Betty are survived by four children, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild,” Council President Mike Vecchio said at the time, according to Cleveland.com.
“The homemade cooking tradition still continues today at Donte’s, and it remains a place for family and friends to gather and enjoy great food.”
The post revealed that the final day of normal operations is scheduled for July 17th.
The weekend after, the restaurant will be hosting a “Last Call” celebration.
The celebration will be a ticketed event, with tickets costing $70.
