Unexpected layoffs now hit Maryland going into 2025 as several businesses file WARN notices advising of upcoming job cuts.
It’s important to understand that under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, an employer with more than 100 full-time workers must provide a 60-day notice before laying off 50 or more people at a single site.
The most recent layoffs in Maryland are beginning this month of November and stretching out all the way to January of 2025.
This year, Maryland has had approximately 6,005 WARN layoffs across a total of 68 businesses.
Recently, Marriott announced plans to lay off a whopping 833 corporate employees, earning the number one spot with the biggest company layoffs on this list.
Our hopes are that our publications allow families to identify unprecedented company layoff news to prepare for the changes ahead of time.
