A popular restaurant chain now makes a painful closure in Illinois, leaving fans mourning the loss of the location.
An Arby’s in the Chicago metropolitan area has officially closed down.
Located at 1331 Golf Road, Rolling Meadows, Illinois, the restaurant alerted customers of the news with a notice on the door.
“Business closed,” reads the handwritten sign, encouraging Arby’s fans to visit other locations in Niles and Des Plaines.
“Thank you for your support. We loved serving you!”
Many fast foodies on Facebook noted that the Chicago shuttering was just one of Arby’s closures.
“Arby’s is nearly becoming the end of Era around Chicagoland areas.
This was the last Arby’s I’ve ate at and their quality beef wasn’t as good like it use to be,” said one customer.
Another noted that the chain had been closing locations “left and right” throughout the Greater Chicago Area and that there were “very few locations left.”
A third diner claimed the chain had been going “downhill” for the past 10 years, recalling a series of closures in the area 15 years ago.
Some customers weren’t surprised by the news and dissed the chain’s food, likening it to paint and rubber.
Others were saddened by the Chicago Arby’s shuttering.
“This is too bad. It’s been my favorite fast food place since I was a little kid,” wrote one.
“I’m glad the two around here stay busy, I love me some Arby’s roast beef,” said another.
Arby’s has a total of 3,413 restaurants across the US, per ScrapeHero.
The closed Chicago Arby’s was owned by franchisee Miracle Restaurant Group, who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on June 20, per Yahoo Finance.
The franchisee operates 25 Arby’s in Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas and will potentially sell multiple locations in three states as part of the bankruptcy process.

A beloved grocery chain now confirms unexpected closures across the Northeast taking place by the end of the year.
Grocery chain Stop & Shop has announced that a total of 32 underperforming locations will shutter in the U.S.
The company said the select stores across the Northeast will be closed before the end of the year.
Stores in New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island will close by November 2.
In May, the company announced the coming store closures.
“Stop & Shop has evaluated its overall store portfolio and made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand,” company president Gordon Reid said, per a July 12 press release.
The company’s president added that the closures were essential “to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand.”
Fortunately, employees will be offered other positions within the company, according to a press release.
The grocery outlet first opened in 2014 and currently has around 400 stores and 60,000 employees, per Fox affiliate KRLD.
Stop & Shop is owned by Ahold Delhaize which also owns Food Lion, Giant Food, and Hannaford.
Which grocery stores are closing?
In New Jersey, 10 locations will close, while only seven will close in New York.
Rhode Island will see two closures and Massachusetts, the home of the first location, will be closing eight.
Five stores will also be closing in Connecticut.
As other chains such as Walmart and Amazon join the grocery business, it has pushed traditional grocery stores out of view, reports The-Sun.
Stop & Shop hopes the closure of underperforming stores will create “future growth” for the company.
