The price of AMC stock is now ‘severely undervalued’ following years of survival through dilution and innovative business developments that have drawn moviegoers to the big screen.

During the inception of the ‘meme stock’ frenzy of 21′, Wall Street was betting on the world’s largest movie theater chain to file for bankruptcy after the pandemic temporarily shut down locations nationwide.

The Covid 19 pandemic led to massive losses for the theater chain resulting in a spiraling debt episode.

Retail investors, known as ‘apes’, noticed the company’s float was severely shorted.

The price of AMC stock at the time was trading at just a buck and change before gamma squeezing to $20 per share in late January.

Investors were aiming at squeezing short sellers from the play.

After AMC stock’s price fell to just a few dollars following the $20 surge, Wall Street doubled down on their bets only to find themselves in a much more troubling situation.

By June, the price of AMC stock had soared past $72 per share.

Forward to today, analysts are now looking at AMC Entertainment’s fundamental improvements and saying it is undervalued.

According to Simply Wall St., AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC) stock is nearly 26% undervalued from its current share price of $2.97.

According to analysts, a ‘fair’ valuation of AMC’s stock price should be $4 per share.

The reason behind this valuation? Analysts point towards strong Q2 results, debt reduction, and a thriving box office.

“Analysts have lifted their implied fair value for AMC Entertainment Holdings from $3.00 to $4.00 per share, citing stronger than expected Q2 results, box office outperformance, and updated models that reflect both higher revenue and earnings expectations, alongside a continued focus on debt reduction.”

AMC’s current market valuation and price prediction is merely from a fundamental perspective.

“Bullish analysts covering AMC Entertainment Holdings point to the latest Q2 report as a key support for higher implied fair values.

The strong box office performance and higher than expected revenue and AEBITDA have led several firms to lift price targets and, in some cases, upgrade ratings, which many investors view as a sign of rebuilding confidence in the equity story.”

That’s right, AMC Entertainment’s ratings have recently jumped to a ‘positive outlook’.

On September 8, 2026, Fitch Ratings assigned AMC Entertainment and its companies a first-time Long-Term Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) of ‘B-‘ with a “Positive Outlook”.

And in July 2026, S&P Global Ratings upgraded AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. credit rating to ‘B-‘ from ‘CCC+’ due to improved operating performance, lowered debt, and a recovering box office.

Now bullish analysts are assuming AMC Entertainment Holdings’ revenue will grow by 7.5% annually over the next 3 years.

Bullish analysts see AMC Entertainment potentially returning to profitability by 2029, with earnings projected to reach roughly $152.6 million, or $0.18 per share, compared with a projected loss of $554.1 million today.

At the bullish analysts’ assumed 40.8× price-to-earnings multiple, those projected earnings would imply an AMC share price of approximately $7.34 by 2029.

Discounted back at Simply Wall St’s 12.46% rate, that equates to roughly $5.18 in today’s dollars, above their ‘fair’ valuation of $4 per share.

However, the valuation depends heavily on AMC achieving the projected earnings recovery while continuing to manage expected share dilution.

Despite new analyst data and AMC stock price predictions, retail investors hold a lot of power.

The price of AMC stock can still be determined by massive buying pressure.

During the ‘meme stock’ frenzy of 21′, AMC’s daily trading volume was reaching hundreds of millions of shares per day.

This was happening during a time where AMC became many American’s first stock after reading about its short interest data that had the potential to short squeeze the stock.

While momentum has come down significantly over the past few years, there’s no telling what retail investors will be capable this time around.
