
A new round of unexpected layoffs now hits Wisconsin as more businesses file WARN notices advising of upcoming job cuts.
It’s important to note that under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, an employer with more than 100 full-time workers must give 60 days’ notice before laying off 50 or more people at a single site.
Just yesterday, Zoomlion filed a WARN Act notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development advising of upcoming layoffs.
They stated that 31 staff at a facility in Wisconsin will be laid off in June.
“Please be advised that Zoomlion Heavy Industry is changing the focis of its business and restructuring its operations, resulting in a workforce rediction.
Zoomlion will be permanently laying off approximately 31 employees at its facility located at 14215 Two Mile Rd, Yorkville on March 20,2024,” the company stated.
However, Zoomlion isn’t the only business who is advising of upcoming layoffs in Wisconsin.
Below is a list of other businesses laying off in Wisconsin this year:
- Lakeside Book Company. 339 job cuts by 6/7.
- Del Monte Foods, Inc. 90 job cuts by 4/26.
- ABS Global, GENUS INTELLIGEN TECHNOLOGIES (Windsor). 8 job cuts by 4/19.
- ABS Global. 36 job cuts by 4/19.
- ODW Logistics. 107 job cuts by 4/14.
- Saputo Cheese USA Inc. 98 job cuts by 3/29.
- Sheridan Wisconsin. 116 job cuts by 4/13.
- H & S MFG CO Inc. 42 job cuts by 4/4.
- Hutchinson Technology Incorporated. 90 job cuts by 4/5.
- Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Wisconsin. 117 job cuts by 4/2.
- Charter Communications. 173 job cuts by 3/28.
- HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Chippewa Falls. 244 job cuts by 3/22.
- Prevea Clinic Inc. 140 job cuts by 3/22.

A massive cosmetics company is now closing this spring as it exits Korea, according to the retailer’s website for the region.
Sephora will begin phasing out its online, mobile app and store operations in Korea starting May 6, which will also be the last day customers can place an online order, per a translation of an FAQ about the closure.
Loyalty members will lose any unused points and have their information deleted at that time as well.
Sephora’s customer service team in Korea will continue operating until mid-August for returns and refunds.
The Sephora Korea site lists five stores in the country. An about page on Sephora’s Singapore website boasts “an expanding base of over 200 stores” in the Asia Pacific region, which also includes China, Australia, Thailand and other countries.
A Sephora spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on Sephora’s exit from the market, per Retail Dive.
The news comes as Sephora’s U.S. rival Ulta recently announced an expansion into Mexico, planned for 2025.
Competition between the two has heated up over the past few years as both retailers pursue large-scale shop-in-shop partnerships — Sephora with department store Kohl’s and Ulta with mass merchant Target.
Sephora has recently shaken up leadership in some of its geographical regions, naming the next CEO of its North America region in September.
The company’s head of Greater China also reportedly left the company in January, though the retailer would not confirm the move.
Sephora CEO Guillaume Motte himself is a relative newcomer, taking over the top post in January last year.
