Massive Grocery Store Is Now Closing Major Location in Ohio

A massive grocery store is now closing a major location in Ohio for good after its shutter was delayed a few weeks back.

Save A Lot will say goodbye to its branch in Hubbard, Ohio, on Monday, April 1.

However, this is only the latest closure in a longer stream of store closures, reports The-Sun.

Customers were notified about the closure with a note posted on the business’s front door, according to NBC affiliate WFMJ.

This note added that the location would open between 9 am and 3 pm on April 1.

After that, this branch of the low-cost supermarket chain will close its doors for the last time.

This location was reportedly set to close in March but a legal mediation had prevented this and prolonged the closure for a few weeks.

The operator of this location entered a disagreement with the landlord over rent costs, according to CBS affiliate WKBN.

Hubbard Food Store LLC reportedly said they had initially agreed to a 67% rent increase but did not renew the lease after claiming the landlord wanted a greater increase the store “the store could not afford.”

“The community will lose a grocery store and our employees will lose their jobs,” the company wrote in a statement.

“Hubbard Food Stores would like to thank the community for all of its support since 2011 and deeply appreciates the hard work of its employees…we truly wish the results of lease discussions would be different.”

Shoppers have mourned the soon-to-be loss of the low-cost grocery store.

“Sad to see it go I shop a lot there,” she wrote.

Another local explained how this closure could affect people in the area.

“I feel badly for not only the employees but also so many that aren’t able to drive out of town if they choose,” the shopper said in the comment section of a post.

“I know quite a few that walk to Save a Lot.”

Another shopper said they were upset because of the type of store Save A Lot was.

“This is so very sad,” the customer wrote.

“So many people rely on the lower prices of Save A Lot compared to the other option in town.”

The popular budget-friendly chain has dealt with several store closures in recent months.

Market News Today – Massive Grocery Store Is Now Closing Major Location in Ohio.

A beloved brewery now declares an unexpected bankruptcy after reporting that it had less than $7.5 million in debt.

District 9 which operates 3 microbreweries and 1 production brewery, and operates a distribution center, has now filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

The company did not provide a financing or turnaround plan as part of its filing.

District 9 Brewing did say that it expected funds to be available for unsecured creditors.

The company said it owed money to between 50 and 99 creditors while its assets are less than $500,000.

District 9 appears to have closed its taprooms, perhaps temporarily and its website shows no upcoming events.

The online store linked to its website, which appears to be operated by an unrelated third party, still enables purchase of D9 beers.

District 9 Brewing made supporting its community a core pillar of its business philosophy, reports TheStreet.

“Our mission at D9 is to inspire and support the community through the creation of exciting and originally crafted ales,” the company wrote.

“As explorers of all beer styles, we offer a wide variety of selections for exceptional craft drinking experiences.

We invest in the scientific exploration of the natural world to produce the highest quality, and unquestionably original, crafted ales.”

The company also supported local charities with some of its events.

“D9 greatly values coming alongside our local nonprofit community partners in supporting efforts to drive meaningful change for our neighbors,” the brewery added.
