A restaurant now makes an unexpected closure in South Carolina with employees being noticed just hours before the news.
A Walk On’s Sports Bistreaux in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, abruptly closed on Wednesday with immediate effect, reports The US Sun.
The news was broken to customers with letters posted on the building saying it had “closed its doors for the last time.”
“We are writing to you with a heavy heart to announce that Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux at 61 Rodeo Drive has closed its doors for the last time,” the letter said.
“This decision was not made lightly, and we want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support over the years.”
“Thank you for being part of our journey.
We are forever grateful for the friendships and memories we have made together.
We look forward to your continued support at our other location.”
No further reason for the sudden closure was given and it is thought that around 50 employees are now out of work.
Workers have spoken out about their “fear” following the news with many only being informed of the closure hours before their shift.
Some claimed that corporate visited the locations just days before the closure.
During this visit, they were allegedly reassured that the site would not be shuttering.
When asked about their reaction to the news, one employee told local NBC affiliate WMBF, “Fear, because I don’t know what’s going to come out of it.”
“I don’t know when I’m going to find a job or if I’m going to be able to make ends meet and pay my rent coming up, so that definitely goes into account for it.
“Especially with my paycheck being late and then closing, it’s definitely messing up a lot of people’s financial situations.”
“I definitely felt very blindsided, because of corporate being in the restaurant days prior saying we will not be shut down,” another said.
“Because they just reassured us we would not.”
“There have been a lot of sleepless nights,” a third added.

A famous donut shop with 100 stores now closes a major location, leaving customers mourning the loss on Facebook.
Duck Donuts is set to close its location in Tallahassee, Florida on April 21, reports The US Sun.
The first and only Duck Donuts shop in Tallahassee, Florida is heading for closure less than a year after its opening.
The 1,500-square-foot shop opened on June 24 last year in Capital Plaza along Thomasville Road in place of a dance studio.
The donut destination made the sad announcement via a post on Facebook.
“It is with heavy hearts we are announcing the closing of our store.
Sunday, April 21 will be our last day open.
Please stop in, wish our hard working staff well, and of course, enjoy our tasty creations while you can.
Tallahassee, you have been a joy to serve.”
Shop owner Timothy McGrew, a Florida State University graduate and Army veteran, said the location’s revenue was insufficient to support continued operation, per local ABC affiliate WTXL.
The franchisee ran the shop with his wife, Renee, offering customers made-to-order donuts, breakfast sandwiches, milkshakes, coffee, and more.
Duck Donuts was created in 2007 in the Outer Banks of North Carolina by founder Russ DiGilio.
The company has over 125 locations in the US and around the world.
The nearest Duck Donuts to Tallahassee is in Jacksonville – around 160 miles.
