A massive fashion company closes 11 more stores after filing for bankruptcy, prompting sales of up to 70% off.
In April, Express made the shocking decision to file for Chapter 11 and confirmed in a press release it would be closing at least 95 locations and selling them.
With only 530 stores around the United States, that’s a significant chunk of its portfolio, reports The-Sun.
At the time, the company didn’t identify which stores would be shutting down for good but has since revealed more information about 11 key closures for New York City residents, per CW affiliate WPIX.
It’s unclear the last day each Express location will remain open, but customers should act fast to take advantage of liquidation sales going on now before time runs out.
The deals and discounts are reported to be up to 70% off on select merchandise.
Locations for the first six New York City closures are as follows:
- 1552 North Broadway, Manhattan (Times Square)
- 129 5th Avenue, Manhattan (Flatiron District)
- 514 Broadway, Manhattan (SoHo)
- 26th Avenue and Bell Boulevard, Bayside
- 490 Fulton Street, Brooklyn
- 5036 King’s Plaza, Brooklyn (Kings Plaza)
Three others are located on Long Island.
- 2034 Green Acres Mall, Valley Stream
- 3513 Long Beach Road, Oceanside
- 1701 Sunrise Highway, Bay Shore
The last two are located in the Northern Suburbs.
- 5130 Xavier Drive, Yonkers
- 1 Sangertown Square, New Hartford
At least seven other Express closures have also been confirmed in New Jersey.
- 250 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge
- 110 Garden State Plaza, Paramus
- 400 New Jersey 38, Moorestown
- 4403 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing
- 112 Eisenhower Parkway, Livingston
- 3710 Route 9, Freehold
- 1750 Deptford Center Road, Deptford Township
Express said in its press release in April that all stores will continue to “conduct business as usual.”
Its bankruptcy filing also comes after receiving money from the federal government.
The company said it recently acquired about $49 million from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) due to the CARES Act.
CARES was created by the Trump administration in 2020 to assist businesses after the struggles caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

A massive furniture store is now closing after 100 years in business with no plans to keep operations running, sources confirm.
Union Furniture Company first opened in 1912, four months after the sinking of the Titanic.
Despite shifts in ownership throughout the years, the Becker family was able to keep the store’s doors open in Macon, Georgia, just over 80 miles south of Atlanta, until recently.
Simon Becker, the grandson of the store founder and his namesake, told LOCAL CBS affiliate WMAZ that he has been with the company since 1984.
“I spent 40 years here,” Becker said.
“My father and my uncle before me, my grandfather before that.”
He revealed to the outlet that approximately nine months ago, he decided he would need to close the store.
“But I don’t have anybody following me, so it was going to happen either now or sometime in the relatively near future anyway,” Becker said.
For 112 years, the Union Furniture Company has sold couches, coffee tables, washers, and more.
Becker told the outlet that the store has had repeat customers that go back 20, 30, and even 40 years.
“We’ve had the grandchildren of people we’ve done business with, do business with,” he said.
He called the decision to close “difficult” and “very emotional”, reports The-Sun.
Becker is planning to host a closing sale at the Macon store starting on Wednesday, April 24.
Everything in store is set to be sold with discounts as high as 50% off.
Once everything is gone, Becker said the store will officially close.
He told the outlet that he and his family are grateful to the Macon community that has been their home for decades.
“So thankful to the community for everything that they’ve done for us and we’ve done for them as well,” he said.
“Providing furniture for generations of people in the Macon community.”
