A famous restaurant now makes a permanent closure of one of its beloved locations in Middletown Township, Pennsylvania.
Denny’s customers have been left upset following a symbolic move at a location that would mark the end of an era.
Denny’s fans have been encouraged to go to the chain’s outlet in Essington, Pennsylvania.
The note, shared by Levittown Now, says: “Dear guest. Thank you for your patronage.
This location has permanently closed.”
The restaurant, which was known for its American-style breakfast menu, was open to diners wanting their greasy fix 24/7.
Nostalgic customers flocked to pay tribute to the chain’s latest closure.
“Oh, the memories,” one wrote.
“Farewell Denny’s!”
A second weighed in: “Was there all the time as a teenager in the 90s.”
A third added: “Ah some good old time memories at that place.”
In April, Denny’s revealed it shut down another 25 restaurants in the first quarter of this year alone, almost half the number of last year’s closures.
The reason for these closures, according to Denny’s chief financial officer Robert Verostek, is that the franchise is struggling to recoup financially after surviving the pandemic.
During February’s earnings call for 2023’s last quarter, Verostek revealed that customer traffic declined by roughly 6% compared to the same time in 2022.
Traffic also dropped by another 6% in the first three months of 2024, Restaurant Business Magazine reported.
In order for a Denny’s location to be profitable enough to sustain itself, it would need to rake in at least $1.2 million in annual sales, Verostek added.

“We are at the helm of a pivotal moment that will allow us to explore boundless advancement, expansion, and innovation to keep delivering ‘That Fridays Feeling’ that our fans know and love.”
Before the closures, TGI Fridays had about 270 US locations, according to the company’s website.
“As part of the store closures, TGI Fridays is offering more than 1,000 transfer opportunities, which represents over 80% of total impacted employees,” the company previously said in a statement.
“Our top priority has always been delivering a superior experience for each and every TGI Fridays guest, and we’ve identified opportunities to optimize and streamline our operations to ensure we are best positioned to meet – and exceed – on that brand promise,” said Ray Risley, US president and chief operating officer, in the release.
Eight other locations were sold to former CEO Ray Blanchette, a longtime stakeholder who will acquire the previously corporate-owned restaurants.
The sale comes as major changes have been made to the brand’s leadership, including the news of Weldon Spangler being made CEO.
“As we continue along our path of transformation to revitalize the Fridays brand and implement a long-term growth strategy, we see a bright future for TGI Fridays,” said Spangler in a statement.
