A Famous Pizza Chain with 6,775 Locations Now Begins Closures
A famous pizza chain with 6,775 locations now begins closures amidst a shakedown felt across the entire restaurant industry.
Locals are reminiscing over Pizza Hut’s Indiana store closure, as hundreds of other locations are also set to close, per media sources.
“Today is a sad day for Pizza Hut fans,” posted one social media user on Facebook.
“2 days ago almost, the Pizza Hut on Morton St in Franklin, Indiana, has permanently closed.”
“This Pizza Hut was a very old one that had been in operation for many years, and was one with the distinct slanted roof.
The interior was barely changed, and this was one of the ones I was familiar with.
I will miss this Pizza Hut.”
The post received many comments, several from locals who said they would miss the pizza chain.
“Sad. I remember going there as a kid,” commented one user.
“Still miss the architecture,” echoed another.
EYM Group – which runs hundreds of Pizza Huts across five states – is being sued by the pizza chain over millions of dollars of unpaid bills, per The US Sun.
When a deadline passed for the Indiana restaurants last week, they were quickly closed.
The same will happen to the others in the coming weeks and months.
EYM said that Pizza Hut is to blame for its financial struggles.
The company blames the pizza chain for its poor sales, claiming that Pizza Hut hasn’t updated its menus or app to keep up with rivals like Domino’s and Little Caesar’s.
“The company is working to transition these locations and expects many of them will reopen soon,” a Pizza Hut spokesperson said.
Pizza Hut staff in Indiana posted on social media that they were given no warning ahead of the closures.
Employees said they had been told to file for unemployment.
EYM was set up with staggered deadlines for payment in each state and warned that the chain would close down its restaurants in each if the debts were not paid, reports the outlet.

A beloved grocery chain now confirms unexpected closures across the Northeast taking place by the end of the year.
Grocery chain Stop & Shop has announced that a total of 32 underperforming locations will shutter in the U.S.
The company said the select stores across the Northeast will be closed before the end of the year.
Stores in New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island will close by November 2.
In May, the company announced the coming store closures.
“Stop & Shop has evaluated its overall store portfolio and made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand,” company president Gordon Reid said, per a July 12 press release.
The company’s president added that the closures were essential “to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand.”
Fortunately, employees will be offered other positions within the company, according to a press release.
The grocery outlet first opened in 2014 and currently has around 400 stores and 60,000 employees, per Fox affiliate KRLD.
Stop & Shop is owned by Ahold Delhaize which also owns Food Lion, Giant Food, and Hannaford.
Which grocery stores are closing?
In New Jersey, 10 locations will close, while only seven will close in New York.
Rhode Island will see two closures and Massachusetts, the home of the first location, will be closing eight.
Five stores will also be closing in Connecticut.
As other chains such as Walmart and Amazon join the grocery business, it has pushed traditional grocery stores out of view, reports The-Sun.
Stop & Shop hopes the closure of underperforming stores will create “future growth” for the company.
