What Must An Entrepreneur Do After Creating A Business Plan?
Are you an aspiring entrepreneur wondering what an entrepreneur should do after creating a business plan?
I’ve been there before, multiple times.
Your experience in entrepreneurship is going to determine the next steps into your journey following your business plan.
So, you’ve jotted down your ideas, have a clear path of how to grow, promote, and possibly even scale your business.
What do you next?
This is going to depend highly on the type of business and the industry you’re in.
For a traditional business, you’re likely going to want to file a fictitious business name, get a seller’s permit — again, depending on your industry — get an EIN, and establish your business on paper.
For an online business, you aren’t necessarily required to have these in line just yet, or at all if you choose to remain a sole proprietor.
Let’s dive deeper into what happens next after creating your business plan.
#1. Take Massive Action
Ultimately, you’re going to need to take massive action after creating your business plan.
A business plan is nothing without action.
Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I have made money through both traditional and online businesses. Each one required massive action after implementing a plan.
One of my very first ventures was an online music agency, promoting independent artists.
I created a business plan and simply got to work thereafter. I began to:
- Build a professional, but free website
- Create a brand that was attractive and niche
- Engage with my audience
- Offer my services
It was my first online business where I actually created a business plan for.
This small independent agency allowed me to earn money online selling a service.
After I created my business plan, I didn’t see it necessary to enroll the name with the city or to get any licenses; it wasn’t needed.
And to be fair, it was something I wanted to test out. Once I identified there was no leverage in the business model, I moved on.
Now, I did require an EIN, fictitious business name enrollment, and seller’s permit for one of my later businesses selling branded uniforms and apparel, but more on that in a moment.
In some industries, you will be required to have the proper documents and filings to do business in that specific industry.
Whatever your industry is, research what you need in order to practice that business.
#2. Create A Result-Driven Plan of Action
As an entrepreneur, once you create a business plan, you’ll want to create a result-driven plan of action.
This is going to be a list of needle-moving actions you need to take daily to drive results.
This could be setting an ideal number of cold calls or cold emails per day, scheduling in-person meetings, or if you’re building an online business, working on SEO, publishing videos or blogs daily, etc.
My biggest business venture yet has been this publication. At its peak, it was valued at $1.2 million.
How did I grow my publication to millions of annual readers? It all started with the actions I took following my business plan.
And here’s the thing, not everything will go according to your business plan.
Things didn’t always go the way I expected them to. Remember, your business plan is not a 100% layout of how things will go. This is all a probabilities game.
Your business plan is a groundwork foundation to help you get started.
Getting results is what will create success. For this reason, entrepreneurs must start setting goals after creating a business plan.

#3. Create Short, Mid, and Long-Term Goals

Every entrepreneur needs to create short, mid, and long-term goals after creating a business plan.
These goals are ‘successful’ measurements of your business.
My publication didn’t start off as a media company with mentions from industry giants such as Forbes, The Economic Times, Yahoo, and many others.
It started off as a personal finance blog. One of my first goals was to monetize it with ads.
Then it was to make my first quarter from ads, and then its first dollar, and then ten, and so on.
Mid-term goals included things such as a specific number of social media followers, number of posts published per month, and number of viewers per day.
Long-term, which continues to be in motion, has been unfolding before my eyes after 7 years of publishing.
In mid-January of 2026, chaos led to an opportunity and I started a commercial uniform company. Within six and a half months, we did over $100,000 in sales.
Our biggest month so far has been $37K in one month alone (so far), and we are projected to hit over $200K in sales by the end of the year.
Today, we work with multiple multi-million-dollar companies in our industry.
The first goals were to hit the $10K mark, then eventually scale to $15K, $20K, and so on.
A business plan is nothing without massive action and goal setting.

Remember, Your Business Plan Will Change
Entrepreneurship is a roller coaster ride filled with highs and lows. It has its thrills and also its scary moments that make you want to puke.
I have had success for many years building brands, scaling them, and capitalizing on opportunities in various industries.
Despite this, I have a lot to still learn.
One thing I can tell aspiring entrepreneurs wondering what to do after creating a business plan is to simply take action on driving results now.
Put one foot in front of the other and never stop moving forward, even when things don’t go according to plan.
Because at some point, you will be forced to face the challenges that come with entrepreneurship.
They’re not fun — but they are the bosses you must defeat to get to the next level.
