A massive Bank of America glitch now drains accounts to zero as several customers report their money disappearing.
Around 12:45 PM ET, reports of problems at Bank of America surged on Downdetector, a site that tracks service outages.
Many customers expressed frustration over being unable to view their account balances, while others who could log in were shocked to find their balances at zero.
Bank of America has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the situation, per ABC 7 News.
Several CNN employees with Bank of America accounts reported difficulty accessing their online accounts.
One customer received a message indicating that the current balance for one or more accounts “may be temporarily unavailable.”
One user noted on Downdetector, “Five accounts show zero balance, over 20K.”
Another mentioned that while he couldn’t log in, his wife could, but her accounts also showed no balance.
“Shows my debt just fine though,” commented another frustrated user.
On Facebook, users lamented over seeing their money suddenly disappear.
“PSA is anyone having issues with Bank of America right now because I logged in and it says I have zero balance and it can’t be,” said one user.
I had a little bit of money in there and it’s not letting me login.”
Another commented, “Yeah my checking and savings account says temporarily unavailable.”
Last year, Chase customers also faced an array of issues attempting to access their money, including being locked out from ATMs.

LOCAL NEWS: A Kentucky sheriff may now face the death penalty after being accused of shooting a judge in his chambers last week.
A Kentucky sheriff charged with the fatal shooting of a judge in his chambers last week could face the death penalty if convicted, according to a special judge assigned to oversee the case.
Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Stines, 43, made his initial court appearance on Wednesday, pleading not guilty to first-degree murder charges.
The incident allegedly occurred on Thursday when Stines shot Kentucky District Judge Kevin Mullins, 54, inside the Letcher County Courthouse.
Kentucky State Police reported that the shooting followed an argument in the courthouse, and investigators are still working to determine a motive.
Witnesses revealed that Stines and Mullins had lunch together on the day of the shooting, as reported by Letcher County Circuit Clerk Mike Watts to ABC affiliate WTVQ.
During the brief hearing held via Zoom, Stines showed no visible emotion while appearing in a jail uniform alongside his public defender, who entered the not guilty plea on his behalf. Stines is scheduled to return to court on October 1.
Mullins was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds after a 911 caller reported hearing gunfire inside the courthouse.
Stines was taken into custody without incident at the scene.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether Stines used his official duty weapon in the incident.
Just days before the shooting, Stines was deposed in a lawsuit alleging that he failed to investigate claims involving one of his deputies accused of sexually abusing a woman in Mullins’ chambers.
In response to the tragedy, Whitesburg Mayor Tiffany Craft expressed the community’s shock, stating that they had been “rocked to its core” by the event.
She emphasized that no one could have anticipated such violence in their small town, highlighting both Stines and Mullins as “great pillars of the community.”
Circuit Clerk Watts, who knew both men for decades, echoed this sentiment, describing them as friends and work family whom he saw almost daily.

People in California are now being told to stay indoors as wildfire smoke worsens air quality in the region, sources confirm.
Officials in Southern California are urging residents to remain indoors as worsening air quality from wildfire smoke poses health risks in the region.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in San Diego issued an air quality alert on Monday afternoon, prompted by the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD).
This alert warns of increased fine particulate pollution due to nearby wildfires and is expected to remain in effect until 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
The alert advises, “If you smell smoke or see ash due to a wildfire, stay indoors with windows and doors closed or seek alternative shelter if possible.”
Residents are encouraged to avoid strenuous activities and to run air purifiers or air conditioning.
It is recommended to refrain from using whole-house fans or swamp coolers that draw in outside air, as well as to limit indoor pollution sources like candles and cooking methods that generate smoke.
If going outside is necessary, residents should do so briefly while wearing a tightly fitted N-95 mask or P-100 respirator to reduce smoke inhalation.
The areas affected by the alert include the Interstate 5 Corridor, the Western and Eastern San Gabriel Mountains, and numerous communities such as Tejon Pass, Gorman, Pyramid Lake, and the San Bernardino County Mountains, including Crestline and Lake Arrowhead.
NWS meteorologist Chandler Price noted that the smoke is primarily coming from the Line Fire in San Bernardino County and the Bridge Fire affecting both Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.
While wildfire activity has calmed in recent days, changing weather patterns are expected to push smoke southeast of the fires.
Residents are also advised to limit the use of gasoline-powered lawn and garden equipment, as emissions can further degrade air quality.
“Exposure to particulate pollution can lead to serious health issues, worsen lung conditions, trigger asthma attacks, and increase the risk of respiratory infections,” the alert cautions.
Individuals with pre-existing heart or lung diseases, older adults, and children are particularly vulnerable and should minimize exposure, strenuous activities, or heavy exertion as conditions dictate.
As per the latest updates from the South Coast AQMD, most areas within the district currently report good air quality, although some regions are experiencing moderate air quality, which may pose risks for sensitive individuals.

Trump is now running away from a second Harris debate after receiving mixed reviews of his performance during the first head-to-head.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will not participate in a second debate with his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed victory in their initial debate, which took place on Tuesday night.
He pointed to Harris’s campaign’s immediate call for another debate as evidence of his win.
Despite Trump’s assertion, many conservative commentators and some of his supporters believe Harris performed better during the debate.
In his Thursday post, Trump stated, “When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH.’”
He further insisted that “polls clearly show” he triumphed over Harris, whom he referred to as the “Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate.”
However, several post-debate polls indicated that a significant portion of the audience felt Harris had won. Following the debate, Trump and his allies criticized ABC News, the host network, and accused moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis of bias.
This debate marked Trump’s second in the 2024 election cycle, having previously faced President Joe Biden in June.
Trump claimed that Biden’s poor performance led to his withdrawal from the race and endorsement of Harris as his successor.
In response to Harris’s calls for another debate, Trump declared, “KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD. THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!”
Shortly after, Harris reiterated her desire for a second debate during a campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“I believe we owe it to the voters to have another debate because this election and what is at stake could not be more important,” she asserted.
The upcoming vice presidential debate will feature Republican Sen. JD Vance of Ohio and Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota on October 1.
Since Harris assumed the Democratic ticket, the campaigns have publicly clashed over the debate schedule.
Trump had previously attempted to arrange an early September debate on Fox News and expressed interest in a debate hosted by NBC News on September 25, but Harris’s campaign did not agree to that arrangement.
Trump also raised concerns about participating in an ABC-hosted debate due to an ongoing defamation lawsuit against the network.
As the debate rules became a point of contention, Harris’s team pushed for both candidates’ microphones to remain on during responses, but that request was not granted.
Following Tuesday’s debate, Harris’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, reiterated the call for a second debate, asking, “Vice President Harris is ready for a second debate. Is Donald Trump?” Trump, claiming victory, cast doubt on his willingness to engage in another round, stating, “Why would I do a Rematch?”
Donald Trump now says Harris is a ‘threat to democracy’ after publishing to X, formerly known as Twitter, a series of his worldview.
The former President says Kamala Harris was the first one out of 22 people to quit when she ran against Biden.
“And now she’s a presidential candidate?,” posted Trump to Musk’s social media platform on Saturday.
“Kamala Harris is the Weakest Presidential Candidate in History on Crime.
She’s allowed millions of people to pour through our Borders, many from prisons, mental institutions and, indeed, terrorists, coming in at levels never seen before.
What gives her the right to run for President? She got no votes to Biden’s 14 Million.
She failed in her previous attempt, was the first one out of 22 people to quit, never made it to Iowa, and now she’s a Presidential Candidate?
This is a Threat to Democracy!”
Harris has recently been criticized for switching sides and opinions on proposals, with Trump supporters stating his beliefs and messages have remained consistent over the years.
“Donald Trump is surrendering to his advisors who won’t allow him to debate with a live microphone,” Harris posted to X.
If his own team doesn’t have confidence in him, the American people definitely can’t.
We are running for President of the United States. Let’s debate in a transparent way—with the microphones on the whole time.
Despite sources such as the Economist suggesting Harris is leading the presidential polls, Trump continues to be the most popular candidate on X.

North Korea now expands its military power with a whopping 250 missiles, part of the countries plan to counter perceived U.S. threats.
North Korea marked the delivery of 250 nuclear-capable missile launchers to frontline military units at a ceremony where leader Kim Jong Un called for a ceaseless expansion of his military’s nuclear program, media said.
Sun Star reports that concerns about Kim’s nuclear program have grown as he has demonstrated an intent to deploy battlefield nuclear weapons along the North’s border with South Korea and authorized his military to respond with preemptive nuclear strikes if it perceives the leadership as under threat.
North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency said the launchers were freshly produced by the county’s munitions factories and designed to fire “tactical” ballistic missiles, a term that describes systems capable of delivering lower-yield nuclear weapons.
According to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the new missile launchers unveiled at a recent event in Pyongyang will give his country’s frontline military units “overwhelming” firepower capabilities over South Korea.
Kim claimed this will make the operation of North Korea’s tactical nuclear weapons more practical and efficient.
State media footage showed long lines of army-green launcher trucks packed onto a large street, with seemingly thousands of spectators attending the event, which included fireworks displays.
North Korea has been actively expanding its arsenal of mobile, short-range weapons systems.
These are designed to overwhelm and penetrate the missile defense capabilities of South Korea. Concurrently, North Korea is also continuing to develop intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of reaching the United States mainland.
Kim Jong-un’s escalating weapons tests and threats are widely seen as an effort to pressure the United States into accepting North Korea as a nuclear power and to have sanctions over its nuclear program lifted.
Experts suggest North Korea may also be looking to ramp up tensions during a U.S. election year.
Kim has been using Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a distraction to accelerate his country’s weapons development.
In response, the United States, South Korea, and Japan have been expanding their joint military exercises and sharpening their nuclear deterrence strategies, leveraging advanced U.S. military assets.
Regarding the new missile launchers unveiled by North Korea, a spokesperson for South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that the militaries of South Korea and the U.S. are closely analyzing North Korea’s weapons development.
However, they said further monitoring is needed to confirm the operational readiness of the missile systems showcased.
Israeli and Iranian leaders have now exchanged warning threats, highlighting the deepening crisis between their nations.
Israeli Prime Minister and Iran’s President have exchanged threats — Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a firm response to any threats, while Masoud Pezeshkian pledged retaliation.
At a ceremony in Jerusalem, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the nation with a resolute tone.
Amid a backdrop of rising regional tensions, Netanyahu declared, “Anyone who harms our country will be held accountable. Iran and its proxies seek to surround us with a stranglehold of terror on seven fronts.
Their visible aggression is insatiable, but Israel is not helpless.
We are determined to stand against them on every front, in every arena, far and near.
Anyone who murders our citizens, anyone who harms our country will be held accountable.
He will pay a very heavy price.”
Netanyahu’s comments come in the wake of nearly ten months of conflict in Gaza and the recent assassinations of a senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon and Hamas’ top political leader in Iran.
The heightened hostilities have raised fears of further escalation and retaliation from Iran and its allies.
On his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, calling it a violation of international law.
“The assassination of a guest of the Islamic Republic of Iran was an act that violated all international laws,” Pezeshkian said.
“It was a grave mistake by the Zionists.
The audacity will not go unanswered.”
According to media reports, Iranian officials told Arab diplomats that Tehran does not care if an attack on Israel triggers a regional war. But this can also be part of a psychological war both sides have launched.
Israel’s channel 12 said that Israel’s security establishment is considering the possibility of “preventive actions or attacks” it could initiate, “including in Lebanon or perhaps in other places as necessitated.”
Siamak Javadi, an economics professor and researcher at the University of Texas, told Iran International, “Aside from its military aspect, war is a full-scale economic project.
You can’t wage war with an empty pocket.”
Comparing gross domestic product, per capita national income, and inflation and unemployment rates in Iran and Israel, he added that the Islamic Republic is financially and economically incapable of engaging in a full-scale war with Israel.
Hossein Aghaei, a researcher in international relations and strategic affairs, also told Iran International, “The Islamic Republic is caught in the strategic trap or chain reaction game set by Israel.”
He added that the Iranian government finds itself in a “difficult and enigmatic” situation and has no choice but to provide a “direct and proportionate response” to Israel in order to restore its deterrent power.
Aghaei warned that if the Islamic Republic engages in “a high-risk game” and initiates a “comprehensive and multi-front” conflict against Israel, the region could be drawn into a major military confrontation.
