Apple is now considering a new vision device with serious computing power that synchronizes to your iPhone, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Only this time, it has merit, says the journalist.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Apple is “seriously considering” the development of a more affordable Apple Vision device that would rely on an iPhone for its computing power.
This new headset would essentially feature displays and a battery, with most processing handled by the iPhone.
Gurman has previously mentioned this concept, but it appears to be gaining traction as a viable option among Apple’s future product ideas for the Vision lineup.
This device would resemble existing products like the Xreal glasses, which display content from an iPhone through the glasses’ screens.
Earlier, analyst Ming Chi-Kuo indicated that Apple’s less expensive Vision headset has been postponed until after 2027.
As a result, the proposed “Vision as an iPhone accessory” could potentially fill the gap.
Gurman noted that this product would further establish the iPhone as the hub of Apple’s ecosystem.
Additionally, this new headset is expected to be much more accessible than the Apple Vision Pro.
Given the capabilities of the A18 chip in iPhones, this approach could prove to be quite practical in the near future.
Apple customers are loving the idea.
“I hope they do this. It makes much more sense.
The iPhone already has the compute power and the AR capabilities to act as the AVP’s brains.
Companies like Xreal already do this but the problem with those devices is that the FOV is much smaller than the AVP and they don’t have things like eye tracking,” says one user.
“I would immediately buy it. I have the latest iPhone, don’t need EyeSight nor I will play games etc. on an Apple Vision Air,” said another.
The Apple Vision Pro is way to heavy (and to expensive too).
And it should also work with the latest Macs too, instead using iPhone, without the battery too.
Just focus on the very good display.
And use the Trackpad and Keyboard for input.
You will never use your fingers for that long.”
But I’m curious to know what you think — are you excited for what’s next with Apple?
