A Popular Restaurant Now Confirms An Unexpected Closure

A popular restaurant now confirms an unexpected closure just years after reopening for fans, citing worries of a ‘collapse’ in the city.

A Hooters restaurant in Rhode Island has indefinitely closed – just years after reopening for fans.

The establishment, located in Warwick – around eight miles from the state capital Providence – has closed for good.

A note has been left on one of the restaurant’s windows informing customers about the closure, per The Providence Journal.

The shutdown has been blamed on the collapse of the Washington Bridge.

“Due to the bridge collapse, we will be closing indefinitely,” the note said.

“First the roof… now the bridge.”

It emerged the restaurant first closed down in 2015 before reopening in 2020.

A storm damaged the building’s roof and around $450,000 worth of repairs were carried out.

News of the shutdown has gone viral, sparking fans to share their memories of eating at the restaurant.

“The first Hooters I ever visited,” one fan said.

Diners said they enjoyed digging into chicken wings.

It was the chain’s only Rhode Island restaurant, reports The-Sun.

The Warwick Hooters closure comes just months after the chain’s restaurant in Lafayette, Louisiana, shuttered after 25 years.

A candlelit vigil was held to mourn the closure of a Hooters restaurant in Charleston, West Virginia, in February, per The Washington Post.

The Hooters restaurant is not the only establishment to have closed down because of issues linked to the Washington Bridge.

Noodles 102 will be closing its doors for the last time on June 8.

The owners said the decision to close was taken with a heavy heart.

“After an incredible 17 years, this decision to move on is a result of the harsh economic conditions we are facing and the I-195 bridge repairs,” they said in an Instagram post.

In December last year, officials revealed they found a structural fault which resulted in the westbound side being closed.

Authorities revealed the repairs could take months to be completed.

In March, Dan McKee, the Governor of Rhode Island, said the bridge would need to be demolished and replaced.

“We’re going to fix the bridge, we’re going to make it right, and we’re going to make sure we keep people safe,” he said.

An unexpected restaurant now abruptly closes 7 locations in one state after revealing plans to shutter a total of 36.

TGI Fridays is closing a total of seven restaurants in one state as part of the company’s ongoing growth strategy.

This comes after the chain abruptly closed 36 locations across 12 states in at the beginning of the year, per The-Sun.

The restaurant chain will pull the plug on seven locations across the state of New Jersey in the coming weeks.

Today, Fridays will welcome in famished diners at its location in Brick for the final time.

“As we continue along our path of transformation to revitalize the Fridays brand and implement a long-term growth strategy, we see a bright future for TGI Fridays,” said Weldon Spangler, CEO of TGI Fridays earlier this week.

“We are at the helm of a pivotal moment that will allow us to explore boundless advancement, expansion, and innovation to keep delivering ‘That Fridays Feeling’ that our fans know and love.”

Before the closures, TGI Fridays had about 270 US locations, according to the company’s website.

“As part of the store closures, TGI Fridays is offering more than 1,000 transfer opportunities, which represents over 80% of total impacted employees,” the company previously said in a statement.

“Our top priority has always been delivering a superior experience for each and every TGI Fridays guest, and we’ve identified opportunities to optimize and streamline our operations to ensure we are best positioned to meet – and exceed – on that brand promise,” said Ray Risley, US president and chief operating officer, in the release.

Eight other locations were sold to former CEO Ray Blanchette, a longtime stakeholder who will acquire the previously corporate-owned restaurants.

The sale comes as major changes have been made to the brand’s leadership, including the news of Weldon Spangler being made CEO.

“As we continue along our path of transformation to revitalize the Fridays brand and implement a long-term growth strategy, we see a bright future for TGI Fridays,” said Spangler in a statement.
