Home Depot is now closing all stores for an entire day

CLOSURE: Home Depot is now closing all stores for an entire day during an upcoming retail blackout, sources are confirming.

As the holiday season approaches, shoppers need to be aware of an upcoming retail blackout that will affect numerous stores, including Home Depot.

This home improvement giant, which operates about 2,000 locations across the United States, will be closing its doors for an entire day, creating a significant pause in the holiday shopping frenzy just as Christmas draws near.

On December 25, many prominent retailers will shut down to allow their employees to spend quality time with family and friends during the holiday.

Home Depot is part of this trend, joining a long list of stores planning to close for 24 hours.

While this may be inconvenient for last-minute shoppers, it highlights the importance of planning ahead as the holiday shopping rush intensifies.

Fortunately, shoppers looking for home goods or gifts will still have opportunities to shop on Christmas Eve and the day after, as Home Depot will operate normally on those days.

Aside from Christmas, the only other holiday when Home Depot takes a break is Thanksgiving.

In addition to Home Depot, Lowe’s will also be closed on Christmas Day, making it crucial for consumers to strategize their shopping trips in advance.

However, both retailers are introducing several convenient services to enhance the holiday shopping experience.

For instance, Lowe’s is offering same-day delivery by 8 PM in select zip codes for orders placed by 2 PM, making last-minute shopping more manageable.

They also have a lowest-price guarantee, which ensures that if customers find a lower price on an identical item at another store, Lowe’s will match it.

To further simplify the shopping process, Lowe’s provides a pickup service, allowing shoppers to bypass the hassle of in-store shopping and long lines.

In addition to Home Depot and Lowe’s, many other major retailers will close their doors on December 25.

Notable stores such as Big Lots, Macy’s, Walmart, Kohl’s, JCPenney, Dollar Tree, and Target will also observe the holiday. Grocery chains like Publix, Costco, Sam’s Club, and Whole Foods will join them in closing for the day, impacting those who might have last-minute cooking needs.

For those who still need to shop on Christmas Day, a handful of retailers will remain open.

Shoppers can expect to find convenience stores like Walgreens, Giant, Wawa, Circle K, QuickChek, and Bravo Supermarkets welcoming customers.

Other accessible options include Casey’s General Store, CVS, 7-Eleven, and Safeway, catering to those in need of gifts or essential ingredients for holiday meals.

As for dining options, several restaurants will also be open on Christmas, providing a welcome alternative for those wanting to avoid holiday cooking altogether.

Denny’s, McDonald’s, IHOP, Dunkin’, Starbucks, Domino’s, Benihana, Chicken Guy!, Fogo de Chao, Luby’s, and Hooters are just a few establishments ready to serve customers on this festive day.

Before heading out on Christmas Day, it’s wise to double-check with local retailers and restaurants to confirm their hours and availability.

In the lead-up to the holiday, many stores are rolling out enticing deals to attract last-minute shoppers.

For example, Walmart has introduced an “inflation-free” Holiday Ham Basket, serving up to 12 people for less than $5 per person—an appealing option for holiday gatherings.

Additionally, BJ’s has launched a gift event featuring 30% off deals for those scrambling to find the perfect presents, providing a way to skip the checkout line altogether.

As the holidays draw closer, the excitement of shopping is palpable, but consumers must remain mindful of store closures on Christmas Day.

With careful planning, shoppers can make the most of the holiday season while ensuring they find everything they need for a joyful celebration.
