7 companies are now laying off nearly 10,000 employees in the state of Ohio starting this month, according to the latest WARN data.
It’s important to note that under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, employers with more than 100 full-time employees are required to provide a 60-day notice before laying off 50 or more workers at a single location.
This law aims to protect employees by ensuring they have adequate time to prepare for the transition and seek new employment opportunities, though not all companies follow this law.
These notices are filed with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
