11 companies now announce thousands of unexpected layoffs in Georgia, totaling nearly 5,700 job cuts in the next months to come.

It’s important to note that under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, employers with more than 100 full-time workers must provide a 60-day notice before laying off 50 or more employees at a single site.

So far in 2025, there has been approximately 8,520 WARN layoffs across a total of 35 businesses, per the state’s Department of Labor.

Last year the state of Georgia saw 6,415 layoffs across 50 businesses by mid October.

While Georgia may not be the state with the most reported job cuts this year, layoffs are now beginning to grow, placing the state in the Top 5 for 2025.
