Trump’s Response to Allegations
On August 2, 2025, reports emerged that Trump, now in his second term as president, addressed claims suggesting he was involved in Epstein’s death.
According to a conversation recounted by a source close to Trump, the former president firmly denied any involvement, stating, “They say I killed Epstein. I didn’t have Epstein killed.”
This statement was made in response to persistent speculation about his ties to Epstein, with whom he had a documented friendship in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Trump has publicly urged the public to move on from the Epstein case, describing it as “pretty boring,” though his comments have only amplified interest.
Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were acquaintances for over a decade, often seen together at social events in New York and Palm Beach.
Photographs from the 1990s and early 2000s show them at events, including a 1997 Victoria’s Secret party and gatherings at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
In a 2002 interview with New York magazine, Trump described Epstein as a “terrific guy” who shared his interest in “beautiful women.”
However, their relationship reportedly soured around 2004 over a real estate dispute involving a Palm Beach property.
Sources close to Trump have stated that he severed ties with Epstein after allegations of Epstein’s criminal behavior surfaced.
The Justice Department’s handling of Epstein-related files has also drawn scrutiny.
In February 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that Epstein’s so-called “client list” was under review, but the DOJ later clarified that no such list exists.
Despite this, Trump’s name has appeared in Epstein-related court documents, though there is no evidence implicating him in Epstein’s crimes.
The Wall Street Journal reported in July 2025 that Bondi informed Trump his name was mentioned in the files, a claim initially disputed by the White House but later acknowledged as accurate.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s Role and Recent Developments
Epstein’s associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for her role in Epstein’s crimes, has also been linked to the ongoing controversy.
In late July 2025, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, a former Trump attorney, conducted a nine-hour interview with Maxwell over two days, discussing over 100 individuals connected to the Epstein case.
Maxwell’s legal team has since publicly requested a presidential pardon, though Trump has neither confirmed nor denied considering it, stating, “I’m allowed to do it, but it’s something I have not thought about.”
Additionally, Maxwell was recently transferred to a minimum-security facility in Bryan, Texas, a move that has sparked debate given the high-profile nature of her case.
