Tragic shooting in Riverside County now claims life six days after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
Officials confirmed this news on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Rene Diaz, a resident of Elsinore.
Incident Overview
Preliminary reports indicate that deputies from the Perris Sheriff’s Station were dispatched shortly before midnight on December 23rd to respond to a call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident occurred in the 2500 block of Spectacular Bid Street, a residential area known for its quiet surroundings.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Diaz suffering from severe injuries characterized as “multiple gunshot wounds.”
However, details regarding the exact locations of the wounds or the circumstances of the shooting remain scarce.
Emergency Response
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies immediately rendered medical aid to Diaz and called for paramedics to assist at the scene.
Following the initial response, Diaz was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Despite the efforts of the medical team, he remained in critical condition throughout his hospitalization.
Tragically, on December 29th, Diaz succumbed to his injuries, marking a heartbreaking end to a violent episode.

As of Sunday evening, investigators from the Central Homicide Unit have yet to identify any suspects in connection with the shooting.
