A tragic off-road accident claimed the life of a motorcycle rider in a remote area near Summit Valley.
The incident, reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), took place around 4:45 PM in the 4600 block of Summit Valley Road.
Details surrounding the accident emerged from statements made by a friend who was also riding in the vicinity.
This friend informed the CHP that the victim had been riding southbound on a trail located just north of the Gold Mine Shaft area when he lost control of his motorcycle.
According to CHP logs, the rider fell from his motorcycle and ended up in a ravine adjacent to the railroad tracks, making it difficult for emergency responders to access the scene.
The challenging terrain and remote location necessitated the use of a helicopter to transport emergency personnel to the site of the accident.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that the rider had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcycle involved in the accident was reported to be a red Honda XRS.
