On August 28, 2025, far-right activist and self-proclaimed “Trump-whisperer” Laura Loomer publicly accused Kentucky U.S. Senate candidate Nate Morris of deceiving voters by falsely claiming President Donald Trump’s endorsement in a fundraising email.
The Daily Beast reported that Loomer, a prominent MAGA influencer with 1.7 million X followers, shared a screenshot of the alleged email, which stated, “Morris is Trump-endorsed. 100% America First. 0% tied to Mitch’s swamp money.”
Loomer’s sharp rebuke, labeling the claim “incredibly deceptive,” has intensified scrutiny in Kentucky’s competitive Republican Senate primary, where Morris faces heavyweights like Rep. Andy Barr and former Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
Details of the Controversy

Loomer’s accusation came after she posted on X on August 28, 2025, stating, “Kentucky US Senate candidate @NateMorris is lying in a new fundraising email, saying he is ‘Trump endorsed’. President Trump has not endorsed a candidate in the Kentucky US Senate race, and this is incredibly deceptive.”
The email, which Loomer claimed was sent by Morris’s campaign, suggested donations would “benefit Morris for Senate,” prompting her to question his trustworthiness: “How can voters in Kentucky trust a candidate if they lie about being endorsed by President Trump?”
The Daily Beast states that they could not independently verify the email’s authenticity but reached out to both Loomer and Morris’s campaign for comment.
Morris’s campaign later clarified that the endorsement claim appeared on a WinRed fundraising page posted in error and was quickly removed, per Yahoo.
The incident was first highlighted by Republican operative Nick Sandmann, who endorsed Barr and shared the screenshot on X.
Barr seized the opportunity, posting, “Everything about Nate and his campaign is fake,” while Cameron, who received Trump’s endorsements in past races, criticized Morris, stating, “I’ve been honored to receive it twice, and I would never lie about it.”
Additional Context of the Kentucky Senate Race
Morris, a Lexington businessman and founder of Rubicon, launched his Senate campaign on Donald Trump Jr.’s podcast, positioning himself as an anti-establishment, America First candidate to succeed retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell.
Despite his lack of name recognition compared to Barr and Cameron, Morris has courted Trump’s base with hardline views and criticisms of McConnell, under whom he interned years ago, per The Daily Beast.
The Kentucky Senate primary, expected to be one of 2026’s most expensive, has become a battleground for MAGA loyalty, with Trump’s endorsement seen as a potential game-changer.
However, Loomer’s intervention highlights her role as a gatekeeper of Trump’s favor.
Loomer has claimed responsibility for the ousting of over a dozen Trump administration officials deemed disloyal, a practice she calls “Loomering.”
Her influence has sparked concern among some Republicans, with Sen. Thom Tillis calling her a “crazy conspiracy theorist” during the 2024 campaign, per BBC.
Public and Political Reactions
On X, MAGA supporters echoed Loomer’s outrage, with some praising her for exposing Morris’s “deception,” while others, like @PolarBarrett, criticized her broader influence as divisive.
Barr’s campaign issued a statement on August 28, 2025, dismissing Morris’s explanation as inadequate.
Democrats, meanwhile, have pointed to the incident as evidence of GOP infighting, with Sen. Alex Padilla noting the party’s “obsession with Trump loyalty” distracts from governance.
Loomer’s sway over Trump, who has called her a “free spirit” and “supporter,” remains a lightning rod.
Her history of racist and anti-Muslim remarks, including calling Islam a “cancer” and Kamala Harris’s heritage into question, has drawn bipartisan criticism, yet Trump has continued to amplify her posts.
Loomer’s attack on Morris could complicate his campaign, especially as Trump’s endorsement remains unclaimed in a race critical to defining the GOP’s post-McConnell direction.
Her role as a loyalty enforcer, seen in her claimed “scalps” of officials like National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, underscores her influence.
However, as the 2026 midterms approach, the incident highlights the GOP’s internal struggles over Trump’s legacy, with candidates vying for his support amid broader controversies like his D.C. crackdown and health concerns.
