Hedge Fund Melvin Capital Is Shutting Down End of June

  1. If Melvin capital is still shorting AMC and they essentially go into “bankruptcy”, does that mean they don’t have to pay up on when AMC squeezes?

    1. Great question, it is certain that Melvin and other HF’s are still shorting AMC & GME but what happens in a liquidation ie are they made to cover shorts or can they just let them go unpaid for. It would be scandalous if Melvin et al are allowed to not pay the market rate for their shorted / naked shares, and then set up with a clean sheet with a new HF.
This does not feel good for retail and the MOASS and we could be shafted again.

      1. I think we’d have a class action law suit if that happens. If they allow Melvin to do that, then every HF will do it.

  2. Great info Frank but how do we know that Melvin Capital is not still shorting AMC or GME since they don’t have to divulge this info? The fact is when they close down and re-open again they have to close out their positions and if AMC and GME are still being shorted than this could be a catalyst we needed for a potential squeeze.

  3. That was certain but other HF betting against “meme” stocks already closed and we didn’t saw any price movements on the upside…
So l am wondering what did they do with their short open position???

    1. Alot of HF covered their positions but then reopened again but none over never closed.
