July 29, 2025 — Popular podcaster Joe Rogan has publicly criticized the Trump administration for its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, describing it as a “line in the sand” for many of President Donald Trump’s supporters.
In a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan expressed frustration over what he perceives as the administration’s lack of transparency regarding Epstein’s files, accusing officials of “gaslighting” the public.
This marks a significant shift for Rogan, who endorsed Trump during the 2024 presidential election.
During the episode, aired on July 25, 2025, Rogan discussed the Epstein controversy with former CIA covert operations officer Mike Baker.
The conversation focused on the Trump administration’s response to demands for the release of Epstein-related documents, particularly a rumored “client list” tied to the late financier’s sex trafficking activities.
Rogan highlighted a Justice Department and FBI memo from early July 2025, which concluded that no such client list exists and that Epstein’s death in 2019 was a suicide.
The memo also stated that no further disclosure of Epstein-related materials was warranted, prompting backlash from some of Trump’s base.
“There’s a line in the sand. This one’s a line in the sand,” Rogan said, emphasizing the expectations set during Trump’s 2024 campaign that his administration would “drain the swamp” and resolve lingering questions about Epstein’s case.
“This is one where there’s a lot of stuff about, you know, when we thought Trump was gonna come in and a lot of things are gonna be resolved, and then they’re trying to gaslight you on that.”
Rogan specifically called out FBI Director Kash Patel, who appeared on his podcast in June 2025 and downplayed the significance of the Epstein files.
Patel claimed to be working to release permissible information but suggested there was little of note in the records.
Rogan expressed disbelief, pointing to metadata from Epstein’s prison cell surveillance footage, which reportedly shows 2 minutes and 53 seconds of missing video from the night of his death.
“The film has a f—ing minute missing from it. Like, do you think we’re babies?” Rogan asked, questioning the administration’s credibility.
The podcast episode, viewed over one million times on YouTube within three days, reflects growing discontent among some of Trump’s supporters, including influential figures like Rogan.
Baker, Rogan’s guest, echoed calls for transparency, stating, “Just release everything.”
He suggested that the controversy is unlikely to fade, despite hopes from some Capitol Hill Republicans that public attention will wane during the August recess.
A Bipartisan Demand for Epstein Files Disclosure

The Epstein case has been a persistent source of speculation, fueled by the financier’s well-documented connections to powerful figures and his death in a Manhattan jail cell on August 10, 2019.
The Justice Department’s July 2025 memo, which dismissed conspiracy theories about Epstein’s death and the existence of a client list, has intensified scrutiny of the Trump administration’s handling of the issue.
Attorney General Pam Bondi, who previously hyped the existence of “tens of thousands of videos” related to Epstein, has faced criticism for the administration’s decision to close the case.
Rogan’s comments come amid reports that Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche met with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s convicted accomplice, who is serving a 20-year sentence for her role in his crimes.
Blanche has indicated that information from this meeting will be released at an “appropriate time,” but no further details have been provided.
Trump has repeatedly sought to distance himself from Epstein, dismissing allegations of close ties as a “hoax” and suggesting that Democrats planted his name in the files.
However, a 2017 audio recording published by The Daily Beast revealed Epstein describing Trump as his “closest friend” at the time.
The controversy has sparked bipartisan interest, with some Democrats also calling for the release of the Epstein files, citing concerns about a potential cover-up.
Rogan’s criticism, amplified by his massive platform, underscores the challenge facing the Trump administration as it navigates pressure from both supporters and critics.
As the debate continues, Rogan’s remarks signal a fracture within Trump’s base, with the Epstein case remaining a focal point of distrust.
“This is a line in the sand,” Rogan reiterated, reflecting the sentiment of many who feel betrayed by the administration’s handling of a case that has long captured public attention.
