LOCAL NEWS UPDATE: A male threatened to shoot Don Lugo HS in Chino, California through an extortion attempt.
On Friday before lunch, students at Don Antonio Lugo High School were put into lockdown when authorities received a threat, ultimately forcing the SWAT to get involved.
Students filmed armed forces positioning themselves to enter a classroom.
Fortunately, no one was hurt during the events that occurred on Friday during school hours.
Chino PD released the following statement later that afternoon:
“On Friday November 8, 2024 at approximately 12:56 pm, the Chino Police Department received a call from a male subject who demanded money or he would shoot up Don Lugo High School.
Officers immediately responded to the school which was placed on lockdown in close coordination with school personnel.
Additional area schools were asked to shelter in place for a short period of time until the threat was determined to be solely related to Don Lugo High School.
A thorough search of the school was conducted, and the call was determined to be a hoax, commonly referred to as a “swatting” incident.

Chino PD is looking to identifying who the caller is to hold the person(s) accountable for the fearsome alarm.
Parents were reached by schools in the district, raising worse-case possible scenarios.
