A tragic incident now claims life of cheerleader days before Christmas after being discovered with multiple stab wounds on December 20th.
Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing
A suspect is now in custody following a shocking incident in California, where he allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend, a 17-year-old cheerleader, to death just days before Christmas.
The tragic event unfolded at the suspect’s residence in Azusa, leading to an outpouring of grief from family and friends.
Victim Identified
The victim, Angelina Camillia Gonzales, was discovered with multiple stab wounds late on the night of December 20.
Her family reported that she had been picked up by her ex-boyfriend after attending a cheerleading banquet, and they later returned to his home together.
Emergency Response
Officers from the Azusa Police Department were called to the scene in the 300 block of North Soldano Avenue around 10 p.m.
Upon their arrival, they found a horrific crime scene.
Gonzales was rushed to a local hospital but was tragically pronounced dead shortly after.
Family’s Heartbreaking Story
Angelina’s stepfather, Robert Caraballo, arrived at the scene and was met with the grim reality of the situation.
He expressed concern when Angelina had not returned home, ultimately tracking her cell phone to the location of her ex-boyfriend’s house.
“When I got there, there was already crime scene tape up and forensics and all kinds of stuff,” Caraballo recounted.
“I ran up to the officers like, ‘Hey, my daughter’s in there. I’m trying to find her. She’s not home.’ And that’s when they told me, sit aside for a minute.”
Despite his warnings to Angelina to stay away from her ex, Caraballo acknowledged that his stepdaughter had a kind heart and often saw the best in people.
Investigation Underway
The suspect, an 18-year-old acquaintance of Gonzales, has not yet been publicly identified.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is currently handling the case, which is also under review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The suspect is set to be arraigned soon, as authorities continue their investigation.
Family’s Grief
The Gonzales family is now faced with the unimaginable loss of their beloved daughter just before what should have been a festive holiday season.
To help cover funeral expenses, they have established a GoFundMe page, which has already raised nearly $17,000.
Angelina would have celebrated her 18th birthday on January 7, a milestone her family mourns deeply.
“She was looking forward to that,” Caraballo shared. “I’m broken right now, I’m not going to lie to you, because the little bit of time that I had with her, I can’t even.”
A Passionate Young Life Cut Short
Angelina was not only a dedicated cheerleader but had also recently joined the wrestling team, winning her first match.
Her stepfather spoke of her enthusiasm for cheerleading, noting that she was even practicing at home and hoped to join another stunt team.
“She had such a great future ahead of her,” her mother, Leticia Caraballo, wrote on the GoFundMe page.
“She had a heart of gold. She was my perfect gorgeous Angel baby. I don’t even have the words to say. I can’t even cope. I need her. Our family is devastated.”
Remembering Angelina
Family members described Angelina as bubbly and full of life.
Her brother, Ruben Torres, reflected on her joyful personality, stating, “It’s unreal… Anyone could bring themselves to harm such a sweet and loving, funny person.”
“Always let your family, anyone you know, that you love them. Let them know you’re proud of them.”
As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a bright young life, leaving behind memories of laughter and joy during a time meant for celebration.
