LOCAL NEWS: A man has been arrested after sexually assaulting an underage girl at a Pasadena bus stop, authorities confirmed on Saturday.
A 57-year-old man was taken into custody on Saturday under suspicion of child molestation after he allegedly groped a 12-year-old girl near a bus stop in Pasadena.
The incident has raised serious concerns about safety in the community and the ongoing issue of child exploitation.
According to the Pasadena Police Department, the alleged assault occurred on Wednesday morning around 7:25 a.m.
The young girl was sitting on a bench in the 300 block of North Lake Avenue when the suspect approached her.
Reports indicate that he inappropriately touched her before fleeing the scene on a bicycle, heading south along Lake Avenue.
The girl bravely reported the incident to school officials upon her arrival at school later that day, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, detectives began gathering evidence to identify the suspect.
Through meticulous detective work, authorities reviewed surveillance footage from the area, which ultimately led to the identification of a person of interest.
The suspect was identified as Farris Tollette, a resident of Palmdale.
Law enforcement officials apprehended him around 7 a.m. on Saturday morning, and he has since been booked on suspicion of child molestation.
This incident has sparked a wave of concern among local parents and residents, who are now questioning the safety of public spaces in their neighborhoods.
“It’s shocking to hear that something like this could happen in our community,” one parent remarked.
“We need to ensure our children are safe when they are out, whether they are at a bus stop or walking to school.”
