Authorities have now arrested a 19-year-old male suspect in the shooting deaths of four people, facing four counts of murder.
Authorities have apprehended a 19-year-old suspect linked to a horrific murder and subsequent house fire that took place in Lancaster over the past weekend.
The suspect, Miguel Sandoval, has been charged with four counts of murder, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The shocking incident unfolded on Saturday when police responded to a call at a residence located in the 44500 block of North Tabler Avenue.
Upon arrival, detectives discovered four individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Tragically, three victims—identified as Janvi Maquindang, 21; Edwin Garcia, 24; and Christine Aca-ac, 26—were found dead at the scene.
A fourth victim, Matthew Montebello, was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following day.
As deputies arrived to secure the scene, firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to combat a fire that had engulfed the one-story home.
The firefighters managed to extinguish the flames within an hour, preventing further damage to the surrounding area.
While the investigation is ongoing, it has been reported that a 16-year-old girl was present in the house during the incident.
She managed to hide and call 911, escaping unharmed amid the chaos.
Authorities have not released details regarding the motive behind the shooting or the cause of the fire, but they believe this was an isolated event, suggesting that there is no immediate threat to the community.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department plans to present the case to the District Attorney’s Office on Monday for consideration of formal charges.
