Local News: Anaheim authorities are now investigating the murder of a man shot inside a car Sunday night after being found with multiple gunshot wounds.
Authorities in Anaheim are conducting an investigation into the tragic shooting death of 25-year-old Kenneth Wayne Swets, who was discovered inside his vehicle on Sunday night.
The incident, which has left friends and family in shock, occurred around 8:42 p.m. in the 2000 block of South Margie Lane.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found Swets with multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the site of the shooting.
The nature of the incident has raised significant concerns in the community, prompting a call for information from the public.
Edgar Cardenas, a close friend of Swets, expressed his disbelief and sorrow over the tragic event.
Having known Swets since high school, Cardenas recalled a recent visit where they shared stories about work and life.
“I actually went to the gym to visit him there, and we just talked about work and how life was going,” he shared.
“My reaction to finding out was the worst feeling. It was just terrible that this happened, and I want it to not be true.”
In the wake of the shooting, detectives have been actively canvassing the neighborhood, searching for clues that could shed light on the circumstances surrounding Swets’ death.
Evidence markers were placed near a gray Honda Civic, which is believed to be connected to the crime.
However, as of now, no description of a suspect has been made public.
“We’re looking into a motive right now,” said Sgt. Matt Sutter of the Anaheim Police Department.
“We don’t have any suspects, but we’re investigating who did this and why.”
The lack of immediate answers has left the community anxious, as residents grapple with the reality of such violence occurring in their neighborhood.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone who may have information related to the shooting to come forward.
Individuals with details are encouraged to contact Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS, as community cooperation can be vital in solving such cases.
The loss of Kenneth Wayne Swets serves as a stark reminder of the fragility of life and the impact of gun violence on families and friends.
As the community mourns, the hope remains that justice will be served and that those responsible for this tragic act will be held accountable.
In the coming days, as the investigation progresses, the Anaheim Police Department is committed to uncovering the truth behind this heartbreaking incident, striving to provide answers to a grieving community.
