A motorcyclist now dies after colliding with a pickup truck in the California city of Vallejo, local authorities have confirmed.
A tragic incident on Christmas Eve resulted in the death of a motorcyclist in Vallejo, according to local authorities.
The fatal collision occurred around 11:20 p.m. at the intersection of Marin and Florida Streets.
Details of the Incident
At the time of the crash, a Chevy Silverado was traveling south on Marin Street while the motorcyclist was heading north.
Both vehicles approached the intersection at Florida Street under a green traffic signal.
As the truck driver attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Florida Street, he failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle.
Consequently, the motorcyclist was unable to avoid the collision, crashing into the passenger side of the truck’s bed.
The impact resulted in severe injuries for the motorcyclist, who was promptly transported to a nearby hospital.
Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the facility.
Authorities have not released the identity of the motorcyclist, pending notification of next of kin.
Ongoing Investigation
The truck driver remained at the scene following the accident and is fully cooperating with the investigation conducted by the Vallejo Police Department.
Preliminary findings indicate that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the collision, suggesting that other factors may have contributed to the unfortunate event.
