LOCAL NEWS: A 54-year-old man has now been arrested for a stabbing at a Hesperia bar, facing attempted murder charges.
A 54-year-old man has been arrested on charges of attempted murder after a violent stabbing incident at EZ Pickens Bar in Hesperia late Saturday night.
The incident occurred on November 17, 2024, at approximately 11:32 PM in the 9200 block of G Avenue, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to Sheriff’s spokeswoman Amanda Paslak from the Hesperia Station, the suspect, identified as Guadalupe Minjarez, stabbed the victim in the chest during an altercation inside the bar.
Eyewitnesses reported a chaotic scene as they attempted to intervene and stop Minjarez from further harming the victim.
In a frightening turn of events, Minjarez reportedly attempted to stab those who tried to help, escalating the situation even further.
After the stabbing, Minjarez fled the scene before deputies arrived. However, law enforcement was quick to act, and he was located at his residence in the 14300 block of Sycamore Street in Hesperia.
Upon their arrival, deputies discovered that Minjarez, a previously convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm at his home, raising serious concerns about his actions and intentions.
Minjarez was taken into custody and subsequently booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
He faces multiple charges, including:
- PC23900: Altering a Firearm
- PC245(a)(2): Assault with a Deadly Weapon Not a Firearm
- PC29800(a)(1): Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- PC664-187(a): Attempted Murder
His bail has been set at an alarming $1 million, reflecting the severity of the charges against him.
Minjarez is scheduled to appear for arraignment in a Victorville courtroom on November 20, 2024.
The victim of the stabbing sustained serious injuries and was promptly transported to a trauma center for medical treatment.
